Since I don’t have a lot of income I’ve been looking for ways to make some extra money. This caused me to bring out an old friend from the closet…my button maker!
I’ve made a few for some local stores I visit to see if they would like to buy some. If you want some custom buttons or know someone who might, just hit me up.

Like many relationships, it started with my head in the clouds but now I just look at it and my skin crawls. That is how life with my Nexus One was. For the first few months I was happy and telling everyone I could about this amazing device and then the problems began. First is was a few dropped calls, then it was poor signal, then it was the power button. As the days went on there was nothing I could do to fix it. So I finally dropped my Nexus One & T-Mobile and moved over to Verzion and get the MotoDroid, no it isn’t as cute as my Nexus but it does the same stuff and my service with the device and signal could not be better. Over all I learned to once again not jump on the new device bandwagon, next time I will wait for the second edition. I still miss my iphone and Words With Friends a lot and I hope to be using my iphone as an ipod touch pretty soon so I can get back to the games I love.

I’ve had my Nexus One for a while now and I want to talk about some of my favorite apps.
(You can scan the barcodes to pull them up on the app store.)
Applications:
Twicca is my favorite twitter client for android so far. It lets you filter your timeline with color bars and text. This makes glancing at your timeline easier to pick out your friends among all the other feeds.
TasKiller Free is a task manager for your phone. Since android runs apps in the background it is easy to forget what you have open. This app makes it easy to see all the apps that are open and shut them down with one click. Managing your apps like this is an easy way to save on battery.
Games:
Since I switched from an iPhone to the Nexus One the one thing I really missed was games. It has taken me a while to find ones I don’t delete after 2hours. Here are some of my favorites,
Word Search Unlimited is an easy word search game with a lot going on. This app beats any other word search app I had on my iphone. I love the themes and the large word database. I’ve been known to carry around a word search book in my purse to pass the time so, this app makes my purse a lot lighter.

I don’t know about you but I love to play Klondike Solitaire. It is one of the first apps I put on any phone or computer when I get it. This app does everything I want in a solitaire game. It is just simple. I can pick a theme for the deck and when a card can be moved to the Ace pile it automatically moves the card for you, which makes me games go by faster so you can get more games in a short amount of time.
Jewels is the best version of a Bejeweled style game for android. It has the best graphics and cleanest game board of any other jewel type game I’ve downloaded. It also has quick responses to each move and generates very different board each time you play.

So what has been going on in my life?? A whole lot and yet the same old same old. I no longer make coffee everyday and my shoulders are much happier because of it. Who knew two years of being a barista would give me repetitive motion injuries in both shoulders. Pinched nerves are no fun kids. So what am I doing now? I’m putting my natural OCD organization skills to use as a personal assistant. I really feel like I’m helping out and that makes me feel good even if everything still has a long way to go before it is as organized as I would like. Small steps…
But enough about my job, lets talk about something amazing Don and I did on Tuesday. We saw Prairie Home Companion at the local cheap theater. For those who don’t know, A Prairie Home Companion is a variety show on found on any local NPR station. I had just checked my phone for movie listings and it was starting in 20mins so off we went. We got there just in time and as we are about to get tickets an awesome guy from WUTC, the Local NPR station walked up and gave us free tickets. Woo! In the theater we were the youngest by about 20-30years and it was perfect. I have a soft place in my heart for sound effects artists and old radio so it was really something amazing. I recommend you at least give the show a listen if you haven’t. You are guarantied a laugh and a good time.
I also wanted to take a moment to talk about my favorite Mac application. It is called Spirited Away. If your like me and you get distracted easily when your working on a project then Spirited Away is for you. Other application just automatically hide and your desktop is no longer filled with distractions and it is easier to stay focused.
Last but not least. Shout out to my Sister in Law NGuff! She is blogging about her life and more importantly, Baby Guff, my first niece or nephew. I’m so thankful she is sharing this experience with everyone. I can’t wait to meet this little person.
Well I did it…. I got a Nexus One.

Now to most this would be a shock because since it’s announcement I’ve loved the IPhone. I owned one since it hit stores and never looked back. It was everything I wanted in a phone and more and when asked how I felt about it I often told people, “I would marry it and have it’s babies if I could”. That is how much I loved my IPhone….so why change? Well I’ve always supported open source software and customization of anything and everything I can. As we all know the IPhone is very locked down. I can’t browse the file system just because I wanted to or change the icons or change default programs or even download an app that wasn’t approved by Apple. I lived with this because I feel in love and like we all do when we are in love we look past the faults and focus on the things we enjoy. To combat this drive I had my IPhone jailbroken. For a while I was happy with all the new things I could do and the programs I could get but in my heart I knew our time together was coming to an end.
When I heard about the first android phone I was interested but I held off because I knew it wasn’t fully ready for a power user like myself. So, I waited it out until something wonderful caught my eye. When I learned about the Nexus One, I could not get it off my mind. It felt like the IPhone announcement all over again. That is when I knew it was time to move on. So how do I feel about the Nexus One….I Love It! There are so many things that I was already doing with my jailbroken IPhone that just happen naturally with this phone and don’t cause annoying crashes.
Widgets [check]
Background Apps [Check]
Internet browsing feels like “real” internet [Check]
Easy to Sync contacts and calenders [Check] (This one I had a horrible time with the IPhone)
These are just a few of the features that I can think of right now but the list goes on and on. So in the end I’ve found a new love but my old love is still close by. (literally I’m using it as I write this entry as an ipod.) Sometimes you can have the best of both worlds!
A social game has taken over my life, it’s name… Foursquare. Foursquare is one of many geo-location games out there. You might have even seen on your favorite celeb tweets but up until a week ago it was an allusive mystery to me. I knew all about it but sadly it was not available in my town until recently when foursquare opened up there “game” to all locations not just major cities. Since hearing this news it was ON. I downloaded the app and started created places to check in all around me. My constant thought when entering a place is “has anyone made this location yet and omg I have to check in before anyone else.” I’ve never found myself so competitive as I do with this game. I of course have my apt as a location to check in as an effort to get more points and become Mayor. Who knew being mayor of your own apt could be so challenging. Since Don also checks in there when he visits so it is a constant battle over becoming Mayor at home and all over town.

Oh, I’m not just addicted to one game no that would be too easy. I’m also addicted to “Words with Friends“. It is basically scrabble you can play with friends who have iPod touch or iPhones. At first it was just a way to pass the time and then it took over. I’m currently in the middle of six games! Six!

So if you haven’t heard from me recently on twitter it is cause my life is consumed by these games.

There is something amazing in Chattanooga, and that thing is a #PIZZACONE! Yesterday was the first meeting of “Pizzacone Tuesday” at the new home of Pino Gelato , Rock Point Books. Which is just a few doors down from their old location.
